Philanthropy (Φιλανθρωπία) is defined as "the love of humanity" and it was first introduced by Aeschylus, to describe Prometheus' gift of fire, to help humanity against a vengeful Zeus.

OUGS, staying true to the meaning of the word and with the help of our members' contributions we provide donations to organisations that promote the welfare of the community.

Proactiva Open Arms

Following the high influx of refugees into Europe as a result of wars, persecution or poverty and the very many deaths of kids, at the Greek shores, we have decided to assist the work of Proactiva Open Arms - a group of lifeguards from Barcelona that moved to Lesvos island in order to save peoples' lives.

Proactiva Open Arms is a non-governmental, non-profit organization whose main mission is to rescue refugees from the sea that arrive to Europe. OUGS has raised £460 to assist their invaluable work.

We urge you to learn about their work here.
